Shop Our Wild Range Meat
Visit the Knepp Wild Range Meat website to browse and shop from our slow grown, wild range meat selection:
Our slow-grown Wild Range meat is produced organically on a 3500-acre rewilding project and one of the biggest biodiversity hotspots in the UK. Our free-roaming herds of Old English Longhorn cattle, Tamworth pigs, and Red and Fallow deer are the drivers of the project, creating new habitats for wildlife. They eat a herb-rich pastural diet, and because they’re eating what nature intended, our animals are happy and healthy, with free rein to wallow, play, and crash through the scrub.
Because their diet is entirely natural, the meat is positively good for human health – high in omega-3 and CLA which is said to help combat cancer and diabetes, high in beta carotene and vitamins E & B, high in calcium, magnesium and potassium, and low in saturated fats.
Because they are free to browse and are ‘slow-grown’ – ie not fattened unnaturally fast on grain and protein – the meat from our animals is denser and richer, with that characteristic ‘marbling’ of fat which gives fantastic texture and taste.
Our Tamworth pigs snaffle down a feast of acorns in the autumn which gives our pork a flavour similar to wild boar. It’s entirely unlike the pale white meat you can buy in supermarkets, but darker – as pork used to be.
Our meat is matured on the bone in our chiller room at Knepp – beef for a minimum of 28 days, venison for 7 days – for extra tenderness and flavour.
