Go Wild with Your Children at Knepp
Children are very welcome in all areas across the Knepp Estate, including the café, restaurant, and shop. The only age restrictions that apply are on our safaris and accommodation. Children have a wonderful time exploring the wild and natural landscape. Our tree platforms and bird hides are particularly popular with our little explorers.
For the Little Explorers
Rewild Your Child – Let Zoologist Ryan Greaves unleash your child’s wild side with fun, hands-on activities and creative challenges in our beautiful ancient woodland, helping your little ones build confidence in nature. These 2-hour sessions will teach young Wildlings to use tools for bush crafts, build and light a fire, search for signs of wildlife and channel their inner beavers to build mini-dams. They’ll make homes for different creatures and discuss ways to bring rewilding to their own outdoor space or school yard.
Please find available sessions online here. Sessions available for 3-6 and 7-11 year olds.
Wildlife Walks & Tracking – Explore 16 miles of public footpaths through Knepp’s rewilded landscapes, climb tree platforms and enter our bird hide, spotting free-roaming deer, longhorn cattle, Exmoor ponies, Tamworth pigs and soaring white storks as you go.
Children’s menu at Knepp Wilding Kitchen – delicious food designed for hungry little explorers to fuel them for their next adventure.
Knepp Wilding Shop – We stock a treasure-trove of children’s books, toys and adventure kits for little nature explorers.
But why should the kids have all the fun?
Parents and grandparents can indulge in:
A Pitstop at the Wilding Kitchen – Rest your own tired legs in the warmth of the Wilding Kitchen with a satisfying lunch of locally-sourced, sustainable food, or grab a coffee to go.
A Spot of Retail Therapy – If the kids will let you, take a few minutes to explore the treats of our Wilding Shop which include local wines and fresh produce, beautiful books and homeware, and nature-inspired jewellery.
A Sense of Wonder – Our population of white storks are just beginning to rebuild their nests. Keep an eye on the skies as you wander our walking routes to spot them circling and swooping as they gather materials for this year’s nests.
