Laurie Jackson

ECOLOGIST & SAFARI GUIDE

Laurie is an ecologist, natural history tutor and writer who has lived in Sussex since 2008. With a background working in nature conservation for organisations including Sussex Wildlife Trust and Buglife, her work has encompassed conservation policy, land management advice and, most recently, wild pollinator conservation.

When Laurie isn’t showing groups around Knepp, she could be almost anywhere, travelling for her work as a wildlife guide overseas. Laurie is especially interested in behavioural ecology, from the smallest invertebrates to the largest mammals, and everything in between.

“There are so many great things to see at Knepp… you never know what’s going to be around the next corner! It’s a real privilege to be helping others to explore and learn about such an exciting project.”

Our 12+ Policy

Knepp Wildland Safaris, our gardens and campsite are all about the quiet and patient observation of nature.

Some of the species we are likely to encounter are shy or can be frightened by loud noises or sudden movements. Our campsite with open-air fire-pits, wood-burning stoves and an on-site pond is unsuitable for small children.

For this reason, our safaris, garden visits, holiday cottages and campsite are suitable only for children of 12 and over.
