Information
In our walled garden experiment, we’ve been challenging conventional gardening methods to create diverse opportunities for wildlife. But what does this mean in practice? What happens with weeding and cutting back, for example? Join one of the Gardens Team for a presentation on how we manage the Rewilded Walled Garden and review the early results of our radical approach. After tea and coffee, you’ll head out into the garden to explore the practicalities first-hand, with plenty of time for questions and brainstorming.
Learn about the principles of rewilding, and what we mean by this in a garden context; the role of the gardener as a keystone species; how we choose what stays and goes in the garden ecosystem; seasonal management; the importance of connectivity and disturbance; and sustainability, both in terms of resources and time.
PLEASE NOTE: The garden visits take place next to Knepp Castle in the Middle Block of the rewilding project – a different place to all other safaris. Please do not go to the campsite/safari car park, but follow the directions to the Walled Garden on your pre-visit email.
