Salary: 6 month pro rata, £30,000

Tips: Approx. £800+/month

Hours: 45 hours per week over five days

Location: Knepp Castle Estate, West Sussex

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Seasonal Breakfast Chef to join Knepp Wilding Kitchen from April through September. You’ll take ownership of our breakfast service, working with outstanding produce from our rewilding estate, on-site butchery and three-acre market garden. This role is ideal for a chef who enjoys high standards and cooking with exceptional, seasonal ingredients.

About Knepp

Knepp is a 3,500-acre rewilding estate near Horsham, pioneering nature-led land management. Our kitchen celebrates award-winning beef, venison and pork, alongside seasonal vegetables grown in our three-acre on-site market garden.

We are an ingredient-led, Michelin-listed, high-paced restaurant, focused on the very best sustainable British produce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run and deliver a consistent, high-quality breakfast service
  • Prepare and cook breakfast dishes using seasonal, estate-led produce
  • Ensure smooth kitchen setup, prep and service for morning trade
  • Maintain excellent organisation and time management during service
  • Assist with stock control, ordering and waste reduction
  • Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen team to support daily operations
  • Maintain a clean, safe kitchen and uphold 5-star EHO standards

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Breakfast Chef or Chef de Partie
  • Strong understanding of breakfast service and kitchen operations
  • Organised, reliable and able to work independently
  • Passionate about produce, seasonality and quality
  • A positive team player with good communication skills
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence and be able to travel to the site independently
  • Available for the full seasonal contract (April–September)

Some of the species we are likely to encounter are shy or can be frightened by loud noises or sudden movements. Our campsite with open-air fire-pits, wood-burning stoves and an on-site pond is unsuitable for small children.

For this reason, our safaris, garden visits, holiday cottages and campsite are suitable only for children of 12 and over.
