Longhorn Hut

This lovely shepherd’s hut, named after our herd of free-roaming cattle, is made from unpainted, recycled corrugated tin and situated on the edge of ancient woodland, overlooking the wild flower meadow.

The door is situated at the short end of the hut facing the setting sun, with a covered veranda and outside chairs.

The interior is ingeniously constructed using reclaimed timber. An antique wooden table with table flaps and two antique wooden chairs provide convivial seating space inside the hut.

The double bed is 5ft wide x 6ft long and situated at one end of the hut, surrounded by three walls, making it warm and cosy on even the chilliest of nights. However, we do suggest our taller guests might be more comfortable in a full length king-size bed in one of our tents.

The bed has a luxury natural fibre mattress, feather duvet and four down pillows, pure Egyptian cotton bed-linen, and colourful recycled wool blankets. Towels are provided and we can provide hypoallergenic bedding on request.

The wood-burning stove in the corner has a glass door so you can watch the flames, with a stove-top kettle and coffee-maker. We supply a starter box of kindling, eco-firelighters and sustainably sourced wood; further supplies are available from our campsite shop.

All of our accommodation is off-grid. Lighting is provided by a battery hurricane lamp, two bedside reading lights, and a candle lantern.

Outside, the hut has its own upcycled fire-pit and barbeque grill, with two hardwood chairs.
