Dusk is a magical time for wildlife at Knepp. As the sun begins to set over the rewilding project, birds throw their energy into the day’s last chorus and nocturnal creatures begin to emerge.
This is a wonderful time to spot foxes, bats and owls. Your guide will help you identify all the different sounds, leading you through the rewilded scrub to the best spots for seeing wildlife.
You’re likely to encounter groups of fallow and red deer, longhorn cows, Tamworth pigs and Exmoor ponies as they wander down to ponds and lakes for an evening drink. In spring, there are usually piglets, foals, calves, and fawns in tow.
At the end of the evening, we’ll gather to enjoy a celebratory glass of wine beneath the stars.
This safari runs several times a week from 18 April to 20 September.
The Dusk Safari is a 2.5 hour walk with frequent stops. You’ll need a good level of fitness and be able to cope with walking on uneven ground.
If you’d like to stay with us for the night, why not book our pitch-your-own campsite with hot outdoor baths and showers, a wood-fired pizza oven, and wild swimming lake.

Knepp Wildland Safaris and campsite are all about the quiet and patient observation of nature.
Some of the species we are likely to encounter are shy or can be frightened by loud noises or sudden movements. Our campsite with open-air fire-pits, wood-burning stoves and an on-site pond is unsuitable for small children.
For this reason, our safaris, holiday cottages and campsite are suitable only for children of 12 and over.
