For those who can bear to crawl out of bed at this hour the reward is a riot of birdsong and sightings of shy animals out in the open – like roe deer, red deer, stoats and foxes. Early mornings can bring magical light and our herds of large herbivores – Exmoor ponies, longhorn cattle and fallow deer – wandering through wreathes of mist. As spring advances you’re likely to hear the liquid song of male nightingales and the purring of turtle doves.
Our Dawn Safari is suitable for everyone – whether professional birder, amateur enthusiast or complete beginner. Your guide will take you to the current hotspots for wildlife activity.

Knepp Wildland Safaris and campsite are all about the quiet and patient observation of nature.
Some of the species we are likely to encounter are shy or can be frightened by loud noises or sudden movements. Our campsite with open-air fire-pits, wood-burning stoves and an on-site pond is unsuitable for small children.
For this reason, our safaris, holiday cottages and campsite are suitable only for children of 12 and over.
