Meet the nocturnal residents of Knepp Wildland on a night-time safari.
The abundance of nectar sources, and the fact we don’t use pesticides, has resulted in a resurgence in insect numbers which, in turn, has resulted in a resurgence of bats. Remarkably, 13 out of the UK’s 17 breeding species of bats can now be found at Knepp, including two of the rarest in Europe.
We’ll learn about the wonderful variety of UK bats and moths, before strolling out into the wildland in search of bats feeding over ponds and along hedgerows.
The safari ends with a glass of wine and some cheese straws under the stars.
Bat & Moth Safaris are scheduled for 21 June, 26 July and 23 August.
Our Bat & Moth Safari is at a gentle walking pace with frequent stops. You’ll need a moderate level of fitness and be able to cope with walking on uneven ground.

Knepp Wildland Safaris and campsite are all about the quiet and patient observation of nature.
Some of the species we are likely to encounter are shy or can be frightened by loud noises or sudden movements. Our campsite with open-air fire-pits, wood-burning stoves and an on-site pond is unsuitable for small children.
For this reason, our safaris, holiday cottages and campsite are suitable only for children of 12 and over.
