Songs in Nightingale Season with Catherine Craig
Songs in Nightingale Season
with Catherine Craig
5pm-6.30pm Saturday 9 May 2026
Join us for an hour of lyrical songs and uplifting atmosphere in our candlelit Gathering Barn at Knepp. Hosted by musician and poet Catherine Craig, Songs in Nightingale Season invites you to gather at a moment when the lush Spring landscape is alive with birdsong – to pause, listen and come together.
This warm, light-hearted gathering weaves piano, guitar and vocals into a tapestry of music shaped by the natural world. Alongside original compositions, Catherine will share a selection of carefully chosen songs, threaded with storytelling, humour and gentle reflection.
With nightingales having found a sanctuary here at Knepp, this performance is an ode to these magnificent birds that are in decline elsewhere in the UK. Their song only lasts a few short months – a fleeting and magical presence in the landscape.
Sparkling elderflower will be served on arrival, with an interval midway through to step outside, take in the evening air, and soak up the atmosphere. We welcome guests to book a table in our restaurant for dinner after the performance.
Please note that the Gathering Barn is up a short flight of stairs, and therefore sadly not accessibility friendly.
