Paul Spiers

Ecologist & Safari Guide

Paul has twenty years’ conservation experience within nature reserves in both rural and busy urban areas. He worked as a warden at the local RSPB Pulborough Brooks Nature Reserve for over 14 years. His expertise is in grazing and wetland management, bird surveying, working with volunteers and public engagement.

“I have a passion for the countryside, its conservation and how it is managed for people, wildlife and farm animals. To my mind, the Knepp rewilding project represents a shift in our mindset about how the countryside is managed, and this is truly exciting. I find natural processes and, particularly, the role of pigs in the landscape as ‘creators of disturbance’ absolutely fascinating (and, of course, the pigs always make me and our visitors smile). I’m really looking forward to see what we will learn next.”

Our 12+ Policy

Knepp Wildland Safaris, our gardens and campsite are all about the quiet and patient observation of nature.

Some of the species we are likely to encounter are shy or can be frightened by loud noises or sudden movements. Our campsite with open-air fire-pits, wood-burning stoves and an on-site pond is unsuitable for small children.

For this reason, our safaris, garden visits, holiday cottages and campsite are suitable only for children of 12 and over.
