Welcome to the Wildlands – Children’s Author Talk with Brogen Murphy
Welcome to the Wildlands
1-2pm Sunday 12 July 2026
Could YOU survive the Wildlands?
Twenty-five years in the future, wolves, lynx and bison roam free across a rewilded Britain. This is the world of Wildlands, the award-winning middle-grade adventure in which two sisters find themselves stranded in a forbidden wilderness – armed with only a rucksack, a phone without signal, and each other.
Join zoologist, environmentalist and author Brogen Murphy to discover how they turned a lifelong passion for rewilding into a gripping survival story – with rewilding activities, an author Q&A and book signing. Perfect for young nature-lovers, budding authors, and their adults.
Wildlands (Puffin 2025) won the Wainwright Children’s Prize for nature writing and was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize 2026. It is also the winner of the Shropshire Bookfest Big Book Award (voted for by students), and was selected by Book Trust for Book Buzz Secondary 2026 and the Reading Agency for the Summer Reading Challenge 2025.
All welcome, but the talk is best suited for children aged 8+.
*all children must be supervised by an adult*
