Pre-Visit Information

Time: 9.30am to 1pm or 2pm to 5.30pm

What’s provided: Tea, coffee, elderflower cordial and a tasty snack. Please let us know of any allergies and if you’re vegetarian/vegan in advance and we’ll do our best to cater for you.

What to bring: Binoculars, camera, sun cream, notebook, water. No dogs please.

What to wear: We will be going for a walk through the Wildland area so please be prepared for the British weather! The ground is uneven so wear sturdy walking boots or wellies if it’s been at all wet. You may want to wear long trousers to protect your legs from nettles, thistles and brambles.

Please note: Guests should not smoke or vape on safaris.

Where to meet: The Granary, Knepp Safaris, New Barn Farm, Swallows Lane, Dial Post, West Sussex, RH13 8NN. Down a long track, which is accessed via Swallows Lane, just next to the village of Dial Post.

Please allow plenty of time to travel to Knepp as our safaris begin promptly at the designated start time. If you arrive after the introductory presentation, we regret to inform you that it will not be possible for us to help you join the safari.

Travelling by car

Parking is free in the Car Park at New Barn Farm.

We are in a remote and relatively crime-free area but we can’t take responsibility for valuables on site, including vehicles and their contents in the Car Park.

Travelling from the Knepp Wilding Kitchen

The Wilding Kitchen Restaurant and Shop are in a different location from where our rewilding safaris take place.

Please allow 5 minutes to drive and 15 minutes to walk to New Barn Farm.

If you are eating lunch at the Wilding Kitchen, please give yourself at least 1.5 hours to sit and enjoy your food.

Travelling by public transport

Walk/Cycle

We are surrounded by public footpaths and bridleways, including:

West Sussex Literary Trail (West)

Bus

The 23 bus runs along the A24 between Horsham and Worthing. 

Our closest stop is Partidge Green Turn on the A24. You can then follow the public footpath to the Wilding Kitchen and Shop, Camping and Safaris. 

Rail

Our closest train stations are:

Billingshurst (8.3 miles)
Horsham (8.9 miles)
Christ’s Hospital (9 miles)

There is a taxi rank outside Horsham Station. 

Our 12+ Policy

Knepp Wildland Safaris, our gardens and campsite are all about the quiet and patient observation of nature.

Some of the species we are likely to encounter are shy or can be frightened by loud noises or sudden movements. Our campsite with open-air fire-pits, wood-burning stoves and an on-site pond is unsuitable for small children.

For this reason, our safaris, garden visits, holiday cottages and campsite are suitable only for children of 12 and over.
