Information

2024 garden safari dates have not been released yet. If you would like to hear from us when they are available to book please email us.

Being able to identify what wildlife you have in your garden is not only the greatest fun, it’s also hugely useful information if you’re trying to identify improvements in response to nature-friendly gardening practices you’ve been doing. And you don’t have to be a qualified ecologist to do it. Building upon our Rewild Your Garden Safari which introduces wildlife monitoring and baseline surveys, this safari shows you how.

Join award-winning garden writer, broadcaster and TV presenter Kate Bradbury for a presentation with tea, coffee and brownies before heading out to explore Knepp’s rewilded Walled Garden. Kate will share tips on how to identify and record garden wildlife to track the success of your wildlife gardening. You’ll kick off by sorting through the previous night’s moth trap and then focus on butterflies, bees, mammals, birds and ground invertebrates.

Unfortunately, the garden is not yet wheelchair accessible – but we’re working on it!

PLEASE NOTE: The garden safaris take place in a different place to all other safaris. Do not go to the campsite/safari car park; please follow the directions to the walled garden on your pre-visit email.

9.30am-12.30pm or 2.00pm-5.00pm

Our 12+ Policy

Knepp Wildland Safaris and campsite are all about the quiet and patient observation of nature.

Some of the species we are likely to encounter are shy or can be frightened by loud noises or sudden movements. Our campsite with open-air fire-pits, wood-burning stoves and an on-site pond is unsuitable for small children.

For this reason, our safaris, holiday cottages and campsite are suitable only for children of 12 and over.
