Supper with Philippa Forrester
Wild Woman
6pm Thursday 30 January 2025
Philippa Forrester is a woman after our own heart and we’re thrilled that she’s launching our Wilding Suppers for 2025 with a talk about her beautiful new book Wild Woman.
Philippa was a prime-time TV presenter for more than three decades, including on Tomorrow’s World, and has produced award-winning documentaries for the BBC, Animal Planet and Discovery, and worked with National Geographic. For six years she lived and worked in Wyoming, encountering wolves, grizzly bears, moose and the odd cowboy. It’s here that she began delving into the themes of her book – what makes a wild woman and what makes a woman wild?
At Knepp we’re deeply conscious that the world of conservation and ecology is still dominated by men. Philippa’s captivating stories of unsung heroes from a 16th century botanist – the first woman to circumnavigate the globe – to modern-day women responding to bear attacks in Yellowstone, anti-poaching rangers in Africa, and her own thought-provoking memoir, puts women where they should be – at the heart of nature restoration.
Wild Woman has been described as a ‘piercing, funny, delightfully brilliant, sometimes rightfully angry book’. For us at Knepp, it’s a manifesto of hope for saving the planet and we can think of no better way to kick off the New Year.
Ticket includes a welcome glass of bubbly, author talk of 40 mins and 3-course dinner in the Wilding Kitchen. Hosted by Isabella Tree, with audience Q&A and book signing.
