6pm Thursday 20 February 2025
An evening with the wonderful, fascinating, hilarious Erica McAlister means you will never look at flies the same way again.
Erica is a world-renowned entomologist and Principal Curator at the Natural History Museum where she presides over a collection of literally millions of flies.
In 2021 she presented her own series ‘Metamorphosis – How Insects Transformed Our World’ on BBC Radio 4, published as a book in April 2024, and she’s author of more award-winning popular science books The Secret Life of Flies and The Inside Out of Flies, and the 2022 children’s book A Bug’s World.
Erica has been discovering amazing insects at Knepp and wowing us, our ecologists and young students on our field summer courses. We can’t wait to share with you her eye-popping, jaw-dropping stories – knowledge that is also vital for the future of the planet.
Ticket includes a welcome glass of bubbly, 45 min talk and 3-course dinner in the Wilding Kitchen. Hosted by Isabella Tree & Charlie Burrell, with audience Q&A and book signing.
